KEEPING A GIFT FOR MYSELF

I got myself a new art deco inspired hat. Or head piece, however you like to see it. Originally I did buy it as a gift for someone else, but as soon as I left the shop I got doubtful and at home I thought - what the hell! I'll keep it!

I mean, it even has a tassel for heaven's sake!

The hat is made by Linda in Ansa and the bangs are fake, re-coloured from platinum and thus useable for me again. I had to give the ends of my hair some fresh tint too as they are so bleached they started loosing colour and going matte. We only had to colour half of the hair however, as it is growing out in the "right" colour.
(My hairdresser is an old friend of mine, Josefin, and she works at Prof downtown, in case someone's interested or want to pay her a visit or so.)
The sateen outfit is Vivien of Holloway.

PICTURES FROM HOOCHIE MAMA JANE

I took some pics over to HMJ when I was Christmas shopping there last week. The tiny store is filled with pretty jewellery (check out the Christmas calendar on Facebook!), and as you know I bought both myself and others some.

I'm still dreaming about one of the deco earrings, only I am not sure which pair to choose - I love the big and blingy ones, but I am no longer used to wear heavy earrings and I feel they make my ears "hang". But like they saying goes in Swedish "vill man vara fin, får man lida pin". The are selling out fast though so I'd better make up my mind!

(If you are in the neighborhood I also recommend a trip to Ansa!)

VINTAGE DIOR

I bought myself an old Dior necklace from Hoochie Mama Jane today.

Vintage jewellery makes great and original Christmas gifts btw - affordable, exclusive, classic, stylish, beautiful, funny or wonderfully tasteless if you so prefer.

FIVE IN ONE FANCY

I have a new knitted turban to keep my little head warm this winter.
(Or well, my head is actually pretty huge but little just sounds better said like that.)
With the pins that go along one can turn it into five totally different headpieces!

Made by the wonderful Frollein, who else :)

FOR YOUR INNER MERMAID / PEARL OYSTER GIVEAWAY FROM TYRA

The pearl oyster brooch (or well, pearl mussel actually) is from Tyra Therman...

...and you can win a similar one for yourself!

I always thought Tyra's pearl oyster-jewellery were beautiful and a brilliant idea; like something a mermaid lost, washed up on the shore to be found by some lucky girl passing by...

You can buy her mussel brooches, necklaces and earrings as well as other jewellery and accessories from her shop; Punavuoren Putiikki and now also online from Made By. (Made By is like a Finnsish Etsy, still taking it's baby steps - it is possible to order abroad but so far Made By can only calculate the shipping fee for Finland.)b But first, try and win one for yourself!

The brooch is made out of mussel shells and pearl-beads.

To enter the give-away, as usual, just leave a comment on this post.
If you do not have a blog or website trough which I can reach you, remember to leave me your email.
And please, as I will draw the winner on random, only ONE comment per person!
If you link to this give-away in your blog, on your site, on twitter or some forum you hang out on you may leave me one more comment (per link) telling me that you've done so, and of course linking to the post/site in question.

The competition is open until next week's Sunday evening, July 25th!
Good luck!

(PS. Love you all! ♥)

Fiona's own site is not up for the time being, but if you are interested in hats of hers I suggest you check out her blog and contact her!

The Photos are taken by Riku Ryynänen.

So Iäve been thinking of getting myself one of Fiona's creations but how on earth am I going to choose??

POMPOM POM POM POM-POM-POM-POM POM-POM-POM-POM POM

Pom-poms!
(You of course have to sing the headline to the tune of Mr.Sandman to get it right.)

Today the weather felt warm for the first time! I'm looking forward trip down dry sunny streets in heels and pom-poms, fluffy skirt hems and hair flowing in a warm breeze.

And you know what? Soon I'll be pom-pomming around in a new pair of shoes. Which ones are to be seen here later on, but as a hint, they might go along with my new refridgerator, maybe.

But before that I'll pom-pom my behind over to Sweden to celebrate a wedding, and I'll leave you all with something sweet before I go.

The pom-pom shoes clips are by Frollein von Sofa.

MORE ABOUT HATS

(Outfit post.)

Slightly inpired by the late 30's for a hat party my fellow Itty-Bitty Tease Cabaret girl Paula threw for her 29th birthday yesterday.

The hat is made by Olivia Rouge, the skirt is vintage, belt Vivien of Holloway and the rhinestone buttoned top H&M.

I also bought myself a new hat today! (Sundays are great for online shopping). If you Like The Freelancer's Fashion Blog on Facebook you can see what I got. Which you'll of course see here at some point too :)

SHOOTING HATS

My friend Fiona Timantti is a skilled milliner. Last week I modelled some (or, quite a lot of actually ) hats from her collection.

Saara, modelling as Onyxei (the first half of Atelieri O.Haapala, making the cabinet portaits you know. Have you seen these btw? I think they're perfect!).

Shooting.

I'm thinking of getting myself one of the hats (if I can choose) but I'm actually quite bad at wearing hats in the end. Perhaps I'd get better at it now if I got myself one!

SOCK THEORY

Lucky girls (and boys), it's giveaway time again - one of you will have the chance to win a pair of funny, but edgy "Tuxedo Stirrrr-up" Knee High Socks from Sock Theory!

Sock Theory carries a lot of funny, pretty and stylish socks, stockings, tights and more to go along with different styles. Wear the tuxedo knee highs as pictured with heels like leg warmers, as socks on black stockings with black heels for a trompe l'oleil boot look, with flats or why not with a pair of calf-high boots?

As usual, all you have to do to enter is to leave one comment -and one comment only- on this post, also mentioning your email if I can't reach you through your blog or such.

If you however post and link to this give away you may leave me another comment telling me about it, giving you two entries.

The winner will be drawn randomly on Friday April 23rd!

As there can only be one winner there is a another treat in for everyone still: Sock Theory offers you a discount code for 10% off purchases of $25 or more! The code is FREELANCER.

I suggest you check out the store; Sock Theory is all-female owned, New York based, active since January and with the aim to open up shops in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Morgan, who contacted me, tells me she developed the concept of legwear being the centerpiece of an outfit, instead of just an accessory. She wears, owns and models all items on the site and only selects products for Sock Theory that are unique and interesting.

Good luck -and happy shopping- everyone!

FOUR THINGS RIGHT NOW

(...apart from the fact that right now I'm actually blogging...)

Sunshine outside and the only rose that survived the cats' attack last night. (They are not exactly small angels, not when it comes to flowers and plants at least.)

Breakfast by the window. (At 13:30, yes. When doing the late shifts at the harbour breakfast is not before noon :)

Reading Danny Wattin ('Pardon me, but your soul just died').

The postman bought me something nice this morning! Quite fast shipping I must say. (And you all had very good guesses but this one was the one I chose, the From The Cross Jewelry locket :)It has a beautiful shine to it that won't show on the picture as it is even prettier in real life.
