A SMALL GATHERING OF THINGS I LIKE

My red shoes, some vintage bags and petticoats sharing space on my clothes rack.
(And something else I like very much in the background :)

OH, PRESENTS!

I received a gift in the mail today, perhaps my first Christmas present of you so like!

Inside the cute packages were two burlesque dvd's; the funny Yule a Go Go Christmas spectacle (which became a prefect ending for our burlesque class today) and Underbelly, about Princess Farhana (who will be performing at the Helsinki Burlesque Festival in february, where we will be performing too :) From a lovley reader of mine, Joanna from Poland.
Thank you ♥

SOME THINGS I'VE COME ACROSS LATELY

You know, come across as in bought.

A bamboo tray found in an antique strore.

A mint condition bag from Pretty Damn Cute.

With a complimentary mirror inside.

And last but not least-
-a 1958 Blaupunkt radio Cabinet!
It also has a built-in but removable record player, but we haven't fixed the electricity chords to see if it works yet.

It serves as a kitsch-y liquor cabinet as well!

We found this at an antique store out of town; Fasaani. We went there only looking for "something small and absolutely no bigger furniture as it will soon get crowded at home". Now this piece was not exactly small, but we just couldn't leave it there.

Even though the piece has a few decades of tobacco smoke impregnated into it Lulu does no seem to mind. I have had to clean it quite a bit though.

Guess what I bought today???

MY CUP OF TEA

It is of course a not that eco-conscious but a very welfare country habit to replace old, still well functioning items with new, prettier ones. Today I gladly took part of that habit when I finally found a electric kettle in my taste; a ceramic - porcelain! not plastic!- one that actually looks like a kettle should! (Or to be honest, I didn't find it myself, my boyfriend did. Now you have to keep on to a guy that know what kettles - and shoes- his girls wants, right? :)

The kettle is from Verkkokauppa and also comes in white. Me and my kitchen have some nice tea moments ahead of us now.

MUERTOS AND MORE

I guess I shuould basically wait until Dia de los Muertos to post these but that would be a pretty long time to wait - I just love these pictures from 666 photography studio! But then again I, as mentioned before, love all of their work:

Spring Muertos

Summer Muertos

Fall Muertos

Winter Muertos

Which of the above do you like the best?
I'd love to get promo pictures done at 666 so if I ever visit that part of the world (Texas) I'll bring enough time and money to have them done for sure!

Anyway, I bet some of you are thinking that I've forgotten to announce the winner of my favourites give-away as time to enter ended on Friday?

That is of course not the case, I have drawn a winner already but just hadn't had the time to take proper photos; upon coming home on Friday evening I literally went straight from the airport to a photo shoot, Saturday went by in a hurry due to a performance the same night, yesterday was spent in bed the whole day having chocolate and reading a book with E. That was nice.
I'll announce the winner soon!

A NEW PAIR OF PARIKKA'S

I think one should always be happy about and appreciate every single gift and present one gets, but when your boyfriend gives you a pair of Parikka's for Christmas it's OK to be a little bit more happy about that than all the rest.

I originally got a pair of red booties but they were a bit too big and the smaller ones out of stock so I changed to these soft pink ones. And that's just as good.

SWEET TEETH

The mail man dropped something very nice through the mail drop this morning; my Milk Toof book I had ordered not that long ago but almost forgot about already! Which of course made me very happy since I've been in love with these small theeth a long time.
Oh ♥

If some of you are not familiar with My Milk Toof yet, I suggest you take your time and browse trough the whole site. You'll love it! It's the sweetest blog I know. The book is sold out by now though, but I'm happy I was there in time to get myself a copy.

THE LAZY THRIFTER GOT LUCKY

Here's some of the things I picked up a couple of weekends ago at this elderly relative of mine.
About a fifth of it. (Yes, this is now the brag-blog.)

A 1950's suit (the pencil skirt being exactly my size, what luck!), leather gloves, hat and bag. Well the bag is actually from Hoochie Mama Jane, I traded some of the gloves I got for it.

An early sixties satin coctail gown, a beaded evening bag with gemstone fastening and long gloves.

The thing is, I went back there the other day for some more. She called me (or actually my grandmother, who called me, but that's details schmetails) that she still and some shoes and accessories she wanted to get rid off. The lazy thrifter gets lucky indeed.

Unfortunately the shoes were too big but I brought them to Hoochie Mama Jane. I'll bring some vintage dresses there in the near future too and Irja has a lot of other nice stuff there already so why not pop by!

YES PLEASE.

In general I am not very fond of listing things that I want to have and shout that list out on the internet. But of course it is no news that I do like a lot of pretty things, and just because I don't list them all the time doesn't mean there aren't things I dream about every now and then. But because it's my birthday soon I thought I'd give it a go, in case some kitchenware manufacturer or apple sellers would be reading this and be in a generous mood...

Since world peace and a 1967 Ford Mustang most likely are out of the question (and apart from constantly craving dresses and weekend trips to European cities) these are some things I dream about for the moment:

A mint green Smeg! Even though getting one such would require a bigger kitchen and therefore also a bigger flat (plus a cream coloured oven and cream coloured dish washer from the same line to match my future cream coloured cupboards), which I unlikely will receive for such an insignificant birthday as my 28th(and probably no other B-day either :) I still keep on wishing. Because one day I will have all that! (picture)

The Minna Parikka ginger bag in powder blue...and pretty much any Minna Parikka shoe too, but I guess I should add that I absolutely have no need for new shoes for the moment, but oh what the hell, I wouldn't mind!

A lomographic camera so I can take artsy-fartsy photos!(cat pic from here)

A new mac: mac book pro. Doesn't have to be in 24K gold though, but hey, why not?

I also wished for a bow trench, waterproof shoes and a nice umbrella but I took care of those things myself already.

(Ps. Smeg suppliers and mac-men, did you get the hint? Thanks in advance, appreciate it.)

LUNCHTIME

I love stop motion animations!
(And pasta and spaghetti westerns as well :)

But there's also something terribly wrong with me since I (like mentioned before...) just can't enjoy these without thinking about all the work behind it and that gives me a slight headache. And makes me a bit jealous too.

JAILHOUSE ROCK, ALL DAY LONG

It's less worse going back to work after your vacation if you bring the coolest coffee mug ever with you.

Not only does it have Elvis on it, it also plays Elvis.

(That makes pretty much and pretty often of Elvis throughout the day so it might not remain the coolest mug in the world forever though... or no wait, yes it will.)

SOME SMALL NICE DETAILS AT HOME

I've been spending most of the past week inside due to crappy weather, sewing on my outfit for tomorrow's show as well as freelancing by designing home wear for children. Every now and then it feels like the walls are falling down on me but I also enjoy some small things in my home:

The fact that I've turned into one of those persons who actually can keep a bowl of candy on my shelf and just have one every now and then instead of finishing it all off at once.

My small Klaus Haapaniemi cups, who's work I love. Not really good for anything else than a mini schnaps perhaps, but just cute as they are, hanging in my kitchen.

The lace on a couple of thin vintage slips hanging by my closet.

The world as it looked when my dad was a kid. (Well, it's not like I'm enjoying the iron curtain's borders. But I find it fascinating to look at old maps.)

A spelt-flour pie with apricot curd, rhubarb and strawberries just making it's way into the oven.

And the I actually do enjoy the rain outside too. As long as I am here inside.

YOU KNOW I LOVE PARCELS AND PACKAGES - part2

Oh the joy of consuming!

A nice package arrived from PandorasChoice
with lots and lots of What Katie Did stuff.

Plus some exclusive Aubade products too , oh.
(Thanks to my mom and dad for the gift card.)

(And yeah I work my umm, behind off and do shows weekly so it's ok to go splurge a little every now and then :)

YOU KNOW I LOVE PARCELS AND PACKAGES - part1

Ran home fast from the post office. (Thank god it's only about 100m from my building!)

At this point I'm always excited as a baby.

...exciting...

Oh!

Double-oh!

(Well that did't take long.)

Ta taa!

(Once you get one cat out of the box, the other one enters it.)

The shoes are from Sniff.

A FEW NICE SMALL THINGS RIGHT NOW

I'm enjoying some nice new things for the moment:

Orchinds for my hair I got from darling Rascal...

...which goes perfectly well toghether with my lovely new bikinin, made from a vintage fabric, that I got as thanks for posing in it. It was such a fun shoot (and it's coming up later here)!

Dryshampoo. It really does magic. And is easier and more fresh than the old school way of brushing talc in the hair, so it's worth a try if you have long hair like me that takes forever to dry for example.

The Hawaian themed pattern on my newly thrifted 50's full cirlce skirt (from Ansa).

Oh yeah, and last but not least: my new tattoo! Made by Sailor andy, as usual.
