Lionel Messi

When you’re talking about the best player in the world and the natural successor to Diego Maradona, there is only one obvious name: Lionel Messi.

His previous season with Barcelona will remain in the memory of all football fans. The big question and the dilemma now is how will Leo’s Argentina coach exploit his strength. His trainer at Barca, Pep Guardiola said it best when he remarked: “When Lionel Messi has a bad game, it is my fault.”

Who - Five O'Clock Heroes feat. Agyness Deyn

ENG: Hey Lovlies! I hope you had a great New Years Eve!
I start my first post in this year with photos from the last one  - when there wasn't any snow keeping me from taking pictures of my outfits.
My pants is thanks to its "tapered-shape" (loose top - tight legs) really comfortable and my fav one in the last days ( yes I know... that changes a lot in my case...).
There is one song however. that I my fav for a long time now and I listen to it quite often to lighten up my mood :) . Listen to it and tell me if it has the some effect on you.

IMPROVEMENTS

I've never been much for New Year's promises. I mean, come on.
But, I have however tried it with improvements. Improvements of things I've noticed I don't handle in the most ideal way in daily life. I've however tried improving the same things two years in a row and both times it has gone horribly wrong; I'm even worse than before...

This year I'm going to try and read more.
I have a small pile of books on my bedside table that has been there forever. I should just leave the damn computer and internet alone (sorry guys...)!

I have heaps of books waiting for me as I keep on buying them in a different pace than I actually read them. Goddamit! I also put loads of books on my shelf when packing down my grandparents hundreds of books in boxes for storage in the basement. So many pages, so many words and letters, so little time...

Another thing to improve is the one that I've failed the past years: organize my papers better, instead of giving the pile a go only once a month (if even that). Oh my I am so terribly bad at that, and believe me - I have lots of papers; the regular ones all household gather, my own companies and then the Itty Bitty's company matters. I'd need an assistans (who will work for free and still not screw me over). That improvement would also result in a much more nicer study one could actually spend time in, ahem.

Last but not least I should try to stick to another thing I wanted to start last year already (but did not manage to do, mostly thanks to Teh Internet...); a moment of self pampering each night! Now, you may think that I'd actually do that all the time, yes, in some matters, daily basic stuff like toothbrushing and hair brushing of course (and the occasional cabbage-do :) - but in the end not that much. I was thinking things like a foot bath, some stretching, a scrub, a calm moment. Something small just a few minutes per evening. Lat year I planned that I'd put fifteen minutes on papers and tidying up per night, and fifteen minutes to myself with something nice.
Well, didn't work out.

Let's see if I'll be better (to myself actually) this year then!

Amanda's Irises (and a Quote)

This start-of-the-year post is courtesy of Amanda, who I met at the end of October in the Borders at Columbus Circle.

It was her sleeve of irises that first captured my attention:

These are inspired by the work of Vincent van Gogh, perhaps this one:

The tattoo was done by Dennis Halbritter when he was at Incognito Tattoo in Pasadena, California. He has since moved to High Voltage Tattoo, Kat Von D's shop on L.A. Ink.

Dennis also inked this on Amanda's inner right bicep:

This quote "IO FU QUELLO CHE VOI SIETE E QUEL CH'IO SON VOI SARETE" is taken from an Italian fresco credited to Masaccio. This is the artwork in question:

The Holy Trinity, with the Virgin and Saint John and donors, in Florence
If you look at the bottom of the fresco, right above the skeleton is the phrase Amanda has inscribed on her arm.

The phrase is translated as "I once was what you are and what I am you also will be".
These words remind her of her own mortality.

Thanks to Amanda for sharing these lovely tattoos with us here on Tattoosday!

A YEAR IN THE LIFE OF

2011. So, last year is over and this one has begun. Time goes by so fast.
But on the other hand, some things that happened only a short while ago feel like it could have been years since. The days get this strange blue, thin layer of nostalgia over them, and happenings are transferred to this space where time has no meaning - last month, last year, ten years ago. Sometimes it feels like forever, sometimes like just now, sometimes the amount of time does not matter, except for that it is all something that already was.

Well, I guess those are just called memories. Perhaps you know what I mean.

Blogs form this ever changing media in the sense that what you publish is only directly available for a short time; the faster you post the faster old posts disappear to the archives. And while some old posts are viewed over and over again via different sources others will remain unread.

So I thought I'd have kind of a similar diggin-in-the-archives-competition or shall we say give away to the one I did last year, when I asked you to name your favourite post ever on The Freelancer's Fashion Blog.(Surprisingly many thought the best one was written during December 2009, which of course is great as that would mean I just get better by time...or then just that it's not interesting enough or to much bother scrolling back a bit. Heh:)

But anyway, this time it goes like this:
Name or link to your favorite post from 2010 by leaving me a comment.

Just like last year, when Prefecta won the mirror necklace, you will be able to win a surprise gift, something small and pretty.

The competition will be open for about a week or so and you can of course enter from where-ever in the world you are, but do leave me your email if you don't have a blog or page to link to.
Happy New Year!

NCAA Football 2011
The 2011 NCAA Football game is about to hit your favorite video game consoles!
Everyone is excited for the NCAA Football 2011 version that is about to be released to your favorite video game retail stores.
This game informer has the inside scoop on the release date for the NCAA Football 11 video game that’s coming out very soon.
Rumor has it that there will be many advance features and options not available in the previous NCAA Football games or even the Madden Football versions.
Either way, you have to admit that this is going to be one exciting football season! NCAA Football 2011 release date available for the Playstation 3, the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PC Game consoles and more.

I love NCAA football – Way more than NFL because these guys are playing their asses off for their pride, the school and the chance at getting rich and playing like the rest of the lazy thugs in the NFL. Every year I look forward to the updated release of this title. Being the little brother to Madden, it’s no surprise that the game feels like it’s been neglected some in the last couple years.
The incredibly fun “Road to Glory” mode that, has you controlling a high school superstar to college star status, received no new features or attention. This is sad because this mode is incredibly satisfying and a lot of fun but it’s a little less so this time around because it’s got the “Been there done that” feel to it. Even the incredibly hot Erin Andrews videos are the same and she’s even wearing the same outfit – Come on EA, quit effin with us. That’s rather insulting.
The dynasty mode is still fun and even slightly more engaging to a small degree with the recruiting allowing you to woo your prospective players away from your competition by making phone calls and planning visits. Only problem seems to me after playing 3 championship seasons, I still don’t have a higher level of prestige as a coach nor am I able to access some of the other points to discuss with players. Not sure what a guy needs to do to make this work better but it’s starting to get a little irritating. What else does a guy need to do to get more 5 star players to come play for his school?
The gameplay itself is by and large untouched which isn’t a bad thing. There have been some minor adjustments to the running game but I didn’t find it to be that bad anyway.
